to close Seattle call center, cut 400 jobs
April 7, 2005 -- United Airlines yesterday announced
that it will close its Seattle call center on
June 4 in a move that will eliminate 400 jobs.According
to the carrier, the Seattle facility is one
of its most costly and has a long-term lease,
but bankruptcy gives the company an opportunity
to reject the lease without penalty. United
also cited record high fuel prices, increasing
competition and low yields as reasons behind

March 31, 2005 -- U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge
Stephen Mitchell today approved US Airways Group,
Inc.’s agreement with Republic Airways
Holding, Inc., and its majority shareholder,
Wexford Capital LLC, on an equity and financing
package that includes a $125 million investment
upon US Airways’ emergence from Chapter
11, in addition to options for obtaining $110
million of other liquidity enhancements that
would be available prior to emergence to assist
the airline in completing its restructuring.

jet service between Miami International Airport
and Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis, Ind.; Louisville,
Ky; Memphis, Tenn.; and Norfolk, Va., beginning
June 9, bringing the total number of cities
served with Embraer jets to 11. American Eagle
currently offers daily jet service to Charlotte,
N.C.; Cleveland, Ohio; Nashville, Tenn.; Pittsburgh,
Pa.; and Richmond, Va., and weekend service
between Miami and Cincinnati, Ohio. All flights
will be operated with 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140
